Every Sunday, the Philippine Star newspaper comes with an 8-paged, full- color edition of its Sunday Comics. Among my favorites are: Hagar the Horrible, Beetle Bailey, Archie, Blondie, Spiderman and now, The Phantom. Normally, the Phantom's adventures take center stage, but now Prince Rex's love life becomes intriguing and confusing. Rex now has to choose between Princess Alicia or Captain Lara! Their love triangle has been told many years before, so I'm a late follower, now reading the version of De Paul illustrated by either Nolan or Ryan (as I found searching the net).
I wish the desire for comics will endure today's hype for tv series, movies and the internet. Its addicting and gives more leeway for our imagination.
BTW, I got to watch the new Transformers movie. The robots are bigger, stronger and fiercer. Its a worthy sequel with even better effects and a more absorbing, fast-paced story.
I just love it when comics are made into movies! Older people who followed, say, Spiderman when they were young kids enjoy seeing him in full animation technology! Whenever these comics superheroes hit theatres, people of every generation are eager and interested. These comics are the constant factor in every generation. Fascination for their characters never waver. They are constantly republished and the characters have become global icons. They are here to stay!
Another thing, is there a site out there which gives easy access to archives of these cool strips? Please, please can you tell me? Thanks...!!
