For the Victims of Typhoon Ondoy/ Katsena

Hello! It's been really long since my last post, but here I am! I know its quite late but I just cannot miss the opportunity to write about the tragedy of Typhoon Ondoy/Katsena. I know its all over the news now; the internet and television is buzzing with reports about dead bodies being found, families losing every property, roads blocked, mud covering just about every surface...lives lost and the overwhelming grief.

Typhoon Ondoy is really different from the usual tropical storm. Its rain downpour is heavy and continuous. Witihin hours, areas started to flood. Even places that weren't previously affected by floods were flooded and damaged.

Apart from the Philippines, Typhoon Katsena has wrought a lot of damage in Vietnam. Humdreds of lives are lost and thousands of people are sad and grieving. It's very hard to lose your home, your hard earned property but the hardest and most painful of all is to have your loved ones die.

I feel really blessed to have our own family and properties saved but I do realize that the victimized, grieving people I have seen on TV could very easily have been me! Truly, we are all dust in the wind! The very length of our earthly existence is unpredictable!

This maybe hard to swallow but I believe the truth is: we humans are majorly responsible for this tragedy. Typhoon Ondoy/ Katsena has CLIMATE CHANGE screaming at the top of its lungs! Imagine a month's worth of rainfall pouring in just 6 hours!!! All of us need to do something NOW!!! It's really sad but we can all see that the poorest people, the ones who are the least contributors to climate change and the ones who are most helpless are the ones who are suffering the most!!!

There are things we can all do to fight Climate change. All of us are important in this fight. To learn more, you can browse these useful websites:
